On Any Given Day, Pat Donaher's debut album, is an audacious first effort, focusing primarily on improvised duos with pianist Ben Kibbey and trumpeter Ralph Alessi. The pieces travel through a range of moods and genres, from the folk melodies of "Kleu" and "The Local" to the Third-stream inspired musings of "On Any Given Day" and "Nude Director". Connecting these disparate elements is Donaher's warm dark alto sound, and the sensitive listening of Kibbey's piano and Alessi's trumpet.
